8 Clumber Gardens,
We took a 6 mile circular walk which included a large section of the Clumber Park area, including a couple of miles of the lovely lake and another of the woodlands in the grounds. It was stunning in the sunshine and although there were lots of families cycling and walking around the lake and the Walled Kitchen garden, once a bit more off the beaten track we were able to enjoy the gorgeous woodlands more or less all alone. There were people on hired bikes following the cycle routes, there were people picnicing, there were people pootling by the lake eating icecream and feeding the water birds, and there were all ages from babes in arms to the very elderly admiring the formal gardens and plants for sale. There were families eating inside and outside both the restaurant and the more snacky cafe. Highly recommended and would give 5 stars if only they had some proper icecream available in cornets.
