Doors of distinction........

Written on 11 Feb 2010, 10:31 AM

The front door of a house is an important statement. Whether it is a modern property with a contemporary front door or a more traditional property that has detailed mouldings and perhaps stained glass, Burwood can manufacture to suit your requirements.

We can help with design ideas or you may have seen something on the tv or in a magazine that fits the bill- our main focus is to give you what you want. However, we will always give sound advice on timber choices and finishes- so if we know that what you are asking for is either - not advisable or possible- we will always be honest and upfront.

Make your house stand out from the crowd.

Bespoke is Best

Written on 21 Jan 2010, 10:14 AM

Here at Burwood Joinery , most of what we manufacture is bespoke. Whether it is a sash window for a period property or an individual piece of furniture- it is made to the customers exact requirements.

We work with designers and architects and of course members of the public wanting that special piece of furniture- custom made to fit in that odd sized recess. Matching existing timber and achieving that perfect finish are also services we can provide.

If you have an idea or are putting together some design schemes for a house refurbishment and need that special piece - give us a call or email some ideas to us.

Thanks

Dear All

As one year finishes and another begins, we all begin to wonder what the New Year will bring in terms of business.

I hope that 2010 will see a recovery in the construction industry and this will have a positive effect on both the industry and the slowly improving housing market. It has been a sad year for many ,with good business's going to the wall and I have seen too many building sites "moth balled" as the  housing market nose dived. Lets hope that the signs of the past few months and general house price rises is the upturn we have all been waiting for.

It would certainly seem that instead of investing in low return bank accounts and falling stocks/shares- many of the public have decided to spend some of their savings renovating and adding value to the houses they already own. Many of the builders we work closely with have been very busy throughout the year with private customers having extensions or major refit... Read more

New to Burwood this year is the ability to provide window frames in component form. All parts are CNC machined for accuracy and quality. Comb joints to the sashes and mortice/tenon joints on the frames.

A draught proof groove is run in the rebate.

We use Hardwoods, Softwoods and Tecnically engineered timbers for maximum choice.

Call us for a price and delivery timescale.

Thanks

Sash Windows What are the choices

Written on 04 Nov 2009, 11:29 AM - Last updated on 21 Jan 2010, 11:41 AM

                                                                               Sash Windows

Many older houses have the traditional Sash window, which looks in keeping with the house but can have drawbacks. Most will have the original single glazing, be troublesome to move up and down due to years of over painting and are quite often draughty due to age, gaps and paint build up.

There are 3 possible options.

OPTION 1

We can replace the windows like for like-including the original weights and pulleys. We would of course use double glazed units and proper draught proofing. The timber we pref... Read more
