About Us

Brief description

Sheffield Analytical Services is a division of the Assay Office where precious metals have been analysed for well over 200 years. The laboratory is a leading authority in the testing of jewellery and fashion accessories to comply with the current EC Nickel Directive, but recent developments and investment have seen diversification into specialist environmental analysis, including stack emission testing and dust monitoring. It is also involved in medical research and operates the UK Mercury Screening Service for Dental staff, and those who work with Mercury in industrial environments. One of the first laboratories and the first Assay Office to be given UKAS accreditation.
